In New Jersey's Barnegat Bay, two boys stumble upon a lethal marine predator that possesses remarkable healing and life-extension genes.

Dr. Allen J. Johnson, a plant geneticist, finds that this animal's mutation may save the life of his son, who has an inoperable brain tumor. But Dr. Johnson must first confront a covert government agency determined to keep the life-extending genes a secret, as well as several ruthless men who will stop at nothing — including murder — to exploit the animal's mutations for their own selfish purposes.

GENIUS...

He is a brilliant neurosurgeon, the "boy genius" whose research into the workings of the human brain has gained him worldwide renown. He himself had been the subject at birth of an incredible medical experiment, one which had succeeded beyond the wildest dreams of the medical profession.

..OR MADMAN?

But now he has overstepped the boundaries of that profession, carrying on his own experiments in a manner so bizarre as to be inconceivable to the mind of the average man. His patients are no longer patients, but helpless victims, their brains controlled by his psychic and technological powers. He will sacrifice anyone or anything to his manic obsession. He has become an agent of death rather than a saver of lives. He must be stopped. But how, and by whom...?

Suppose that you, Jan Fisher, have studied hard in the field of biomedics to be able to help mankind, only to find what appears to be human experimentation going on at your work place, carried on by two neurosurgeons, having different goals, who also work at the South Bay Institute for Functional Disorders.

Dr. Harry Lund is hopeful of developing a substance consisting of human stem cells with re-engineered viruses that will allow people to live longer, disease-free lives. The other, Dr. Robert Brainerd, hopes to restore human functions that have been affected by disease, through the use of special biologically-altered stem cell preparations. However, the results of their experiments take unusual turns, as the injections into the brains of some of the patients create unexpected results, fomented by the bizarre methodologies that one of them has brought with him from his past.

As the search for potent stem cells diminishes, there are unexplained murders being committed by unknown mercenaries for the purpose of retrieving body parts.

Dr. John Stillman, pathologist, and Jan Fisher, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, are suspicious of some of the rather unusual therapies of the two neurosurgeons. Their investigations into these techniques are eventually discovered, and then they become the hunted, while escalating their efforts to avoid censure, and even death. But their involvement in the detective work causes them to become closer, and the love story begins. In fact, there are other human connections that unfold, notwithstanding the strange goings-on at the Institute.

A supervirus threatens to wipe out the human population.

The only hope for the future is a cure hidden inside Ryder Stone. Created in a lab and brutalized, betrayed and hated by humans, Ryder yearns for freedom. On the outside, a group of human genetic purists want him dead.

When Katie Marsh, a brilliant young geneticist, discovers his secret, she must fight to protect Ryder, gain his trust...and convince him to save humanity before the purists destroy them both.

In the late fall of 2013, a lethal pandemic virus emerges from the Islamic Republic of Indonesia and rages unchecked across every continent. When the Jakarta Flu threatens his picture perfect Maine neighborhood, Alex Fletcher, Iraq War veteran, is ready to do whatever it takes to keep his family safe. As a seasoned sales representative for Biosphere Pharmaceuticals, makers of a leading flu virus treatment, Alex understands what a deadly pandemic means for all of them. He particularly knows that strict isolation is the only guaranteed way to protect his family from the new disease.

With his family and home prepared for an extended period of seclusion, Alex has few real concerns about the growing pandemic. But as the deadliest pandemic in human history ravages northern New England, and starts to unravel the fabric of their Maine neighborhood, he starts to realize that the flu itself is the least of his problems. A mounting scarcity of food and critical supplies turns most of the neighbors against him, and Alex is forced to confront their unexpected hostility before it goes too far. Just when he thinks it can’t get any worse, the very face of human evil arrives on Durham Rd. and threatens to destroy them all. Alex and his few remaining friends band together to protect the neighborhood from a threat far deadlier than the flu, as they edge closer to the inevitable confrontation that will test the limits of their humanity.
